Apollo 18 is set to hit theaters on September 2 and is already stirring quite a buzz online. The film is set in Dec. 1974 and centers around a fictitious mission to the moon which, in essence, lead NASA to cancel the Apollo moon missions.
The film is based on the premise that recently discovered NASA footage reveals that some type of alien life form on the moon finds the Apollo 18 crew and attacks them. In the movie’s trailer, which can be seen below, the American astronauts find a dead Russian cosmonaut on the moon’s surface, before they are attacked themselves.
The movie’s official website has an accompanying Facebook page which is being updated with new content about the film and the storyline.
The film’s Twitter account focuses mainly on previous NASA missions, engaging its 1,200 followers on topics relating to space exploration.
